In 2018, it didn’t take much for the CRF450R to retain its crown as the best motocrosser of the year. A few tweaks to ECU settings, a different set of engine hangers, plus stiffer springs and updated valving in the Showa 49mm coil-spring fork and Showa shock were all it took. A nice touch? Electric start came as an option on the 2017 model, while the 2018 machine is fitted with it standard.
This bike has been through our service department and passed an 89 pt. reconditioning & inspection process. Some of the points include an oil & filter change, flush and bleed of all brake/clutch fluids, inspection of all wear items, an electrical & charging system test, safety & lighting check, adjustment of controls, torque check of major fasteners, a diagnostic check with a scanner, and of course a test ride to check for proper operation of the bike. Our techs also performed the valve clearance check, serviced the air filter, replaced the spark plug, mounted a new rear tire and tube, and replaced the chain.
The CRF450 puts the power to the ground in the midrange like no other bike. It gobbles up ground. On the pipe, in the midrange, with the throttle pegged– this is a great engine.
