Southern California boasts an extensive network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, many strategically located near points of interest. Here are several notable charging locations and the adventures that await nearby:
1. Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles
Tesla is nearing completion of a unique Supercharger station on Santa Monica Boulevard, designed to resemble a retro diner and drive-in movie theater. This facility will feature two movie screens showing short films, approximately 30 Supercharger stalls, and a 24-hour rooftop-seating restaurant. While your motorcycle charges, you can enjoy a meal and entertainment, immersing yourself in the vibrant culture of Los Angeles.
2. Joshua Tree National Park
Rivian has introduced an innovative charging outpost near the entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. This station offers 12 high-speed chargers accessible to all EVs (Tesla owners will need an adapter). The outpost includes amenities like a lounge with complimentary coffee, upscale snacks, and a deck offering picturesque views of the Mojave Desert. While your bike charges, you can explore the park’s unique landscapes, hike its trails, or simply relax and take in the serene environment.
3. Santa Ana, Orange County
Rove is set to open one of the first EV charging stations in the U.S. designed exclusively for electric vehicles in Santa Ana. This facility will feature a mini grocery store, Wi-Fi lounge, restrooms, and overnight security. With 28 Tesla Superchargers and 12 non-Tesla chargers, riders can recharge while enjoying various amenities. The station’s location in Santa Ana provides easy access to local attractions, dining, and shopping experiences.
4. San Diego
The proud hometown for ONYX MOTO, San Diego is a city rich in attractions and equipped with numerous EV charging stations. While your motorcycle charges, you can explore Balboa Park, home to the San Diego Zoo, botanical gardens, and several museums. Alternatively, visit the USS Midway Museum to delve into naval history or relax at La Jolla Cove, known for its stunning ocean views and marine life.
5. Palm Springs
Palm Springs offers a blend of natural beauty and cultural experiences, with several EV charging stations available throughout the city. During charging stops, you can take a ride on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to enjoy panoramic views of the Coachella Valley, explore the city’s mid-century modern architecture, or unwind at local hot springs.
